Unsurprisingly, if you re-arrange the letters FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION OF IRELAND, you get the anagram TOTAL OFFICIAL LOONINESS ABROAD.

• Did you know that Jack Charlton became Ireland manager by accident because the FAI messed up an attempt to give the job to someone else?
• Or that Eoin Hand became Ireland manager because an FAI board member thought that his rival candidate had once thrown a bun at him?
